Nothing about 16x10 support or other resolutions like 1440x900 and 1680x1050, that's a shame. I myself am running off of a new LG LCD TV that displays 1080p, but I still would like to have support for when my Xbox ends up on an LCD monitor for travelling. It's always the (relatively) easy things that never get done. Oh well. XVid support, nice.

It's not like my LCD monitor can't display a decent image from the 360 now. 1280x1024 in widescreen mode seems to do the trick, but it...

I've been waiting to hear this for a while now. Hopefully Microsoft doesn't p*ssyfoot it like nintendo and sony do and get all the great titles up in the next couple months instead of trickling them down slowly.

I've been wondering though, if it is possible for them to distribute these larger Xbox games via XBLM, what about games from other sources? Would it be possible for developers and publishers who released games on other systems to port them over to the 360? Maybe we will...

Who cares, spend more time playing the game and less time arguing on forums. The two systems are really close in power, much closer in terms of power then the Xbox and PS2 were. Developers have been claiming the two are really close in power anyway. Do you really care. It's all about the games, always has been, always will. In this case, you have two virtually identical versions. Enjoy whichever version you purchased.

Just one more quick comment as to what is the point of upscaling. Here is the best example.

Compatability: Being able to upscale your images to another resolution (or even downscaling in some cases) allows the product to support more television sets. Many older televisions only excepted 1080i but not 1080p or 720p. In the PS3's case, if a game only renderd at 720p, it couldn't do 1080i at all, so it would go down to the next lowest resolution the set could support, usually only...

Lol, oh I love it when people don't know anything. You can render an image in many different ways. People usually only think about the vertical resolution and neglect the horizontal resolution. I'll repeat myself once more. In the case of the PS3, since they cannot upscale 720p to 1080p, in order to render a 1080p image they can render a true 1920x1080 image. However, in many games this may cost too much performance, so what they will do instead is render the image like 960x1080 or 1280x1080 ...

Takumi86 you apparently can't read, but the PS3 does indeed have a scalar chip, but like I stated above it can only scale an image horizontally and not vertically. This means you cannot use the scalar to take older (or even newer I suppose) PS3 games that render at 720p and upscale them to 1080p, it cannot be done. However, a developer can use this chip to take an image of less total resolution (like 960x1080 or 1280x1080) and stretch that to 1920x1080. Now, if they wanted to render at 720p, ...

From what I've been able to discern, Call of Duty 4 on 360 runs at a native resolution of 720p. It's also what Microsft claims on the game's profile on xbox.com, nothing about 1080p. So the 360 version is upscaling it. That's the beauty of the 360's hardware scalar. More compatability with TVs.

I haven't personally tested the PS3 version, but I believe it does render an image with 1080 vertical resolution, but it's horizontal resolution is something squished then stretched out ...

Parents should not be buying their children games that are rate M. It's made for someone 17 and up, not for little Timmy whose testicles have yet to descend. Parents these days just aren't smart enough or care anymore. "Oh mommy, I really want this game, can you buy it for me PLEASE". If I tried that with my parents when I was that age, it would be a simple no and that have would be then end of it. These days though, kids have their computers, TVs and video game consoles in their ro...

I have said this before and I will say it again, the management team at microsoft is completely useless. Why don't they just let Harmonix use their wireless protocol for free, or just include it at no extra cost to them in the licenses they need to develop for the 360. These are proprietary controllers, ie: they will only be used with rock band and possible future Rock Band games. They fill only a certain niche. Microsoft will not loose any money because nobody is going to go out and start us...

And people, please don't get suckered in to buy those 200 dollars cables at best buy, those things are completely useless (and I have been told by people who work there that they charge many times what best buy gets them for). A cheap HDMI cable from anywhere else will work just as well. Analog cables, okay maybe quality does matter there, but in the digital realm it doesn't really matter. The signal is just a bunch of 1's and 0's, as long as it all get's through, a cable won't improve the pi...

HDMI was just brought in so the big movie companies could better protect their movies with more robust copyright protection schemes, that's it. Everything about it having better picture is a case by case thing, it all depends on everything: your source, you tv, etc... etc... Some TVs can display a better picture via component, some via VGA, and others via HDMI/DVI-D. And some sources (cable box, DVD player, satellite box, game console etc...) might output a better overall picture from one or ...

Hmm. By the looks of the picture and description on the site, I think you actually have to remove the battery pack in order to charge it. I think that is what that case is for, it's the charger. So it looks like you can't charge it while playing. Someone, please prove me wrong on this one, because that looks pretty crappy.

And as if they couldn't either include the battery or at least make it compatible with the standard 360 battery pack. Oh well, whatever. All these companies truly care about is making more money after all.

For cheap AA batteries, go pick up one of those large 6 volt batteries (the kind you use for large flashlights) and cut it open. Voila, a bunch of AA batteries for you to use. And these batteries are cheap. Hope that helps you all.

6 hours is really too short for a single player campaign. Plus, there is no co-op so there goes replay value. I'm sure the game will take a bit longer on the harder difficulties, but still, this is very dissapointing. There is no doubt that the multiplayer aspect will probably occupy most players many, many times longer then singleplayer, but still. It should have had 12-15 hours, that is a good playtime for this kind of game. 10 hours would even be great. Bioshock had a good play time throug...

The only reason I could see getting this device is if your HD-TV does not have any VGA hookups. VGA offers you the same functionality of HDMI minus the fact it doesn't pass through sound. It's analog, sure, but does that matter? Not really. You can play HD-DVDs at 1080p with it (which you cannot do with component cables, and by the looks of things neither can this device). You can upscale DVDs with VGA (which this device won't be able to do since it seems to be simulating a component cable se...

Jeeze, I hope that is an early pre-Alpha shot of the game, because it looks like it's running on a souped-up version of the Quake III engine, and looks terrible compared to other games out now and out soon. I hope they start to realistically model the limb detachment stuff (a single M-16 shot will not blow off someone's arm or leg, never) and improve the environments. I loved the first two games, I hope this one turns out to be a classic too.

Considering Halo 3's rather, uhmm, short campaign, an arbiter expansion pack would be a definate welcome. Being able to see the story from his point of view and try out some new levels would be great. This is a no brainer, hopefully Bungie is already on this. Expansion packs usually aren't hard to do anyway, since the engine is done and a lot of the games assets are made. Maybe a couple new weapons here and there, or variants of them, some new levels, a vehicle or two. The one thing they need...

Microsoft really has to loosen their grip on their proprietary wireless technology when it comes to new peripherals. I mean, sure, Microsoft doesn't want to license their technology to other companies who would use it to make standard controllers, since they make good money having the only available wireless ones. But I don't see how they would be loosing money if they let companies who are making unique, game specific controllers (i.e the guitars for rockband and guitar hero, among the other...

This game stole many, many hours of my youth away in multiplayer alone. Still played it during the last console generation regularly. Hopefully, Microsoft and Rare can work something out with MGM and Activision (the current publisher who holds the James Bond license) and put this classic up on XBox Live Arcade in a true to it's roots but updated form (better graphics and online multiplayer with more maps, but keep everything else the same, like movement and physics). It would be one game actu...
